An interview with Nelly Bando

Upcoming 100: How long have you been in the music industry and has music always been a part of your life?

Nelly Bando: I've been in the music industry professionally for a little over 6 months now but I've always been around music all my life.

Upcoming 100: Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, "music is what I want to do?"

Nelly Bando: Yes, November 2016 during my second or third studio session when I made the song Upgrade Season, after the eactions I got from everyone in the studio with e that day, I thought to myself this is what I need to do!

Upcoming 100: What inspires you (or your music)?

Nelly Bando: The energy from the fans when performing at shows, the fact that they sing the lyrics back to you while performing just literally pushes me to keep making music. I feed off the energy of the fans.

Upcoming 100: Who's on your iTunes playlist?

Nelly Bando: Nelly Bando, Liz Uzi, 2 Chainz, Migos amongst a few others.

Upcoming 100: The project you are currently promoting, how did the idea for it come about?

Nelly Bando: The name of the project is Upgrade Season which is also the name of the lead single. I feel like I've come a long way from where I was last year at Uni in England, now I'm more independent, doing what I love the most ... making music so I feel as if I've upgraded and that's where the title came from.

Upcoming 100: There are thousands of artist trying to do what you are doing, what do you think gives you an advantage to break into mainstream America?

Nelly Bando: My style is just different from everyone else, the vibe, everything's just different and I know mainstream America will welcome me with open arms.

Upcoming 100: I've heard your latest music and it's amazing! I can definitely tell your sound has evolved over the past few years from previous songs we've heard from you online. What are your thoughts on the evolution of an artist and the evolution of music today?

Nelly Bando: Thank you, for an artist to evolve you literally just need to keep working on new music and your sound will just come to you naturally, I mean that's how it was for me. The more you work on something, the better you get at it, at leat that's how I feel.

Upcoming 100: Do you have other passions in life? Do you believe passion is an essential part of success?

Nelly Bando: I've always been good at business and that's a lane definitely want to step into within the next few years after my music takes off.

Upcoming 100: With your current success and working with a renowned PR firm such as Starlight PR, what advice would you give to someone just starting out in his/her career who doesn't even have a studio to record but would love to do what you are doing now?

Nelly Bando: Just keep grinding, be patient and everything will eventually fall in line.

Upcoming 100: Where can potential fans find out more about you?
