Exclusive interview with Profit TPM

Upcoming 100: How long have you been in the music industry and has music always been a part of your life?

Profit TPM: Music has always been apart of my life. I have always found an escape and an embrace from music. I love the way music reminds you of a certain season from years ago or a certain song brings back memories with some of your boys from years ago. Music is dope as hel to me cause I find myself. I meditate through the music and hear what is being said. Most people listen to music but I hear music and that’s the difference. I have recently started going harder with music and trying to take it as serious as possible. I have been working with rap for about 4 years now. This past year is when I decided to really strategize and attack the music industry.

Upcoming 100: Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, “music is what I want to do”?

Profit TPM: This question is liking asking a fat kid when he first fell in love with cake. So my answer is by my first time hearing music. Seeing an artist on stage and how they put their all into their set is amazing. I have always liked entertainment and performing in front of crowds no matter what it was. I am just  a natural people person and I love doing what I do.

Upcoming 100: What inspires you (or your music)?

Profit TPM: Personal events inspire me the most. When an artist is going through a dilemma that’s when you create the dopest stuff. You pour your soul into the music and mix. I also say the competition aspect inspires me as well. I have played football, basketball, baseball, wresteling, and boxing.  I have always been competitive. I love the Battle rap scene for a fact. I have nothing respect for those dudes. They body everything they touch and to me its dope.

Upcoming 100: Who’s on your iTunes playlist?’

Profit TPM: Weezy F Baby first and for most. Shout out to the greatest rapper alive, period. Just so Weezy knows I’m still waiting to get signed to Young Money, so feel free to hit me up! Back to the question tho. I listen to a lot of trap like Gucci, 2 Chainz, Young Dolph, and Southern trap artists. That’s where my heart is and that’s where it will stay at! 100%

Upcoming 100: The project you are currently promoting, how did the idea for it come about?

Profit TPM: I am currently promoting my single “Check”. The link should be somewhere on this page and if not go to Youtube and just search “Profit.TPM Check”and you will find it. It has been on the hot charts and it is honestly getting me traction. I got the song concept from a self discussion aspect. I have things at the moment but I still have other things I am trynna get if that makes since. Listen to it and you will understand what I am saying. Oh yeah,  don’t forget to follow me on Instagram! @Profit.TPM

Upcoming 100: There are thousands of artists trying to do what you are doing, what do you think gives you an advantage to break into mainstream America?

Profit TPM: As a white Hip-Hop artist, there is no other white dudes rapping the stuff I rap about. There isn’t anyone to my knowledge that is doing what I am doing. I stick out. I am an individual who promotes self worth, self indulgence, as well as being yourself. I am all about self if you haven’t realized yet.

Upcoming 100: I’ve heard your latest music and it’s amazing! I can definitely tell your sound has evolved over the past few years from previous songs we’ve heard from you online. What are your thoughts on the evolution of an artist and the evolution of music today?

Profit TPM: Personal development is souly on the arstist and how hard they push there selves. They have to understand there is always someone out there how wants it more than you and are willing to work harder than you. That should be enough motivation to get you into grind mode and if it doesn’t this life isn’t for you at all. Grow everyday and learn everyday. As for HipHop I think it is the most evolving genre of music there is and that’s what I love about it. It is always morphing and changing. All of the sub-genres within HipHop are dope if you dive in and check em out. I think it will continue to evolve and there won’t be any stopping it. Shout out to all the new school rappers killin’it! For real!

Upcoming 100: Do you have other passions in life? Do you believe passion is an essential part of success?

Profit TPM: No and yes, I feel passion is mandatory. If you aint passionate about your craft find something else. When and where you find that inner drive and burn is where you wanna be. If you are not willing to put your all, heart, and soul into your niche you will fail over and over and over again. Get off your lazy ass and grind for what you want. Claim what you want. It is yours so go get it.

Upcoming 100: With your current success and working with a renowned PR firm such as Starlight PR, What advice would you give to someone just starting out in his or her career who doesn't even have a studio to record but would love to do what you are doing now?

Profit TPM: Plan. Start with a square one. Read, learn, and explore. Knowledge is power and its free on the internet. Study. Practice. Record. Build a fan base. Do shows. Point is you have to create building blocks. You can’t sprint before you can run and you can’t run before you can crawl. Always plan and learn from mistakes. Everyone has there own path and you have to find yours. There is no key to success. It is about the one you create. It is all on you.
