Exclusive Interview with C. Wells

An exclusive interview with C. Wells

Upcoming 100: How long have you been in the music industry and has music always been a part of your life?

C. Wells: Ever since I got kicked out of school in the 10th grade, I came back from ALC alternative school and began rapping. But last year I dropped my first album worldwide so I would say technically officially in the industry since last year.

Upcoming 100: Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, “music is what I want to do”?

C. Wells: When in the 11th grade, I was unable to play football anymore due to conduct reasons. I rerouted my dreams and aspirations to rapping. In that same year, I won the school talent show at Alief Taylor High and been creating history since then.

Upcoming 100: What inspires you (or your music)?

C. Wells: Everyday life and the experience inspire me. I am creative so I could easily get inspired by anything in life from love, lust, struggle, determination and the fun critical views of life.

Upcoming 100: Who’s on your iTunes playlist?

C. Wells: C.Wells - BIG WORM OF APPLE CITY & The P.O.O.R. 2 / Christ Wells – 5 Life, Die Like A Star / Cassius Sky – Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing, Fivepointer Rich – Reborn. I like and support all music. I listen and find the creative elements and authors’ message in it all but I create the music I love.

Upcoming 100: The project you are currently promoting, how did the idea for it come about?

C. Wells: My character in my Hood Alief Apple City Houston, the southwest side of town… I'm THE BIG WORM OF APPLE CITY. In this project, I wanted to represent my area of Houston and introduce the world to my side of town. We, the flamboyant hustlers, playa’s, gangsters of the Town…  The world has never seen a major rapper from my side of town until me!

Upcoming 100: There are thousands of artists trying to do what you are doing, what do you think gives you an advantage to break into mainstream America?

C. Wells: Because I lived and mastered multiple routes that you can travel down in America… I represent both sides (the good and the bad) of the game. I’m genuine and they know they are going to get what they hear about and see. My Five Pointer brothers and I showed the city how to put it down in a certain way and now it’s time for the world to know!

Upcoming 100: I’ve heard your latest music and it’s amazing! I can definitely tell your sound has evolved over the past few years from previous songs we’ve heard from you online. What are your thoughts on the evolution of an artist and the evolution of music today?

C. Wells: Keep perfecting your craft until you can duplicate, to the smallest of details, the beautiful songs that’s in your mind! Music is always evolving so it’s better to stay ahead then try to keep up with the times!

Upcoming 100: Do you have other passions in life? Do you believe passion is an essential part of success?

C. Wells: I want to play my role in the development of mankind and help develop the talented individuals that Most High places in my path. Of course I think passion is an essential part because only passion can keep you moving toward your goal when the odds seem not to be in your favor. Passion is what gets you through and keeps you focused during tough times.

Upcoming 100: With your current success and working with a renowned PR firm such as Starlight PR, What advice would you give to someone just starting out in his or her career who doesn't even have a studio to record but would love to do what you are doing now?

C. Wells: Stay focused on your overall accomplishments. Pray. Perfect your craft. Get you some money some type of way, invest in yourself because you can’t wait on someone to save you in this game.

Upcoming 100: Where can potential fans find out more about you?

C. Wells: I’m everywhere. Just type in “C.Wells” or “Christ Wells” or “Five Pointer Production” in Google, iTunes, Spotify, YouTube…
