Exclusive Interview with The Dushman

An exclusive interview with The Dushman

Upcoming 100: How long have you been in the music industry and has music always been a part of your life?

The Dushman: I have been in the music industry for 11 years, yes music has been part of my life because at home my grandfather owned a church and I was part of the choir.

Upcoming 100: Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, “Music is what I want to do”?

The Dushman: Definitely my love for music started back in high school when I used to perform in front of the whole school when they held special events like valentines show etc. That is why after school I chose to pursue that career.

Upcoming 100: What inspires you (or your music)?

The Dushman: My music is inspired by my life events hence I decide to write my own lyrics.

Upcoming 100: Who’s on your iTunes playlist?’

The Dushman: Artist like Drake, Bruno mars, r.kelly, isley brothers, Mr. Chaklas, black coffee.

Upcoming 100: The project you are currently promoting, how did the idea for it come about?

The Dushman: The idea came about my life events and wanting to bring a different sound to the industry and also to spread the name of love.

Upcoming 100: There are thousands of artists trying to do what you are doing, what do you think gives you an advantage to break into mainstream America?

The Dushman: The difference between me and the other artist is the style that I am bringing to the industry is different then that’s out in the market and what I sing about is love and nowadays there is not much of music that’s talks about love.

Upcoming 100: I’ve heard your latest music and it’s amazing! I can definitely tell your sound has evolved over the past few years from previous songs we’ve heard from you online. What are your thoughts on the evolution of an artist and the evolution of music today?

The Dushman: I think for an artist to evolve is very important because it builds your character and it helps the artist career grow in a way that you even gain new fans. The music today has evolved a lot from what it sounded like 10 years ago and today’s music lacks creativity.

Upcoming 100: Do you have other passions in life? Do you believe passion is an essential part of success?

The Dushman: Yes my other passion is playing football, I believe that passion is an essential part of success because when you passionate about something you get that drive and ambition to succeed.

Upcoming 100: With your current success and working with a renowned PR firm such as Starlight PR, What advice would you give to someone just starting out in his or her career who doesn't even have a studio to record but would love to do what you are doing now?

The Dushman: I would advise that person to do a lot of research regarding this industry, be ambitious, save money and never give up on the dream.
