Exclusive Interview with BChil

An exclusive interview with BChil.

Upcoming 100: How long have you been in the music industry and has music always been a part of your life?

BChil: I’ve been trying to break into the music industry for about 5 years now. I’ve been into music since I was like 5 or 6 years old but years of preparation have led me to this point.

Upcoming 100: Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, “music is what I want to do”?

BChil: Yes, I performed Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” at my school’s talent show and the response I got made me realize that this is what I wanted to do in life.

Upcoming 100: What inspires you (or your music)?

BChil: People in general who doubted me and said that it wasn’t possible inspired me the most. I will be proving to them and myself as well that I can become a multi-platinum artist and producer.

Upcoming 100: Who’s on your iTunes playlist?’

BChil: My iTunes lists consist of Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, Dru Hill, and Usher and of course, BChil.

Upcoming 100: The project you are currently promoting, how did the idea for it come about?

BChil: The song “Talk Back” was crafted 3 years ago and the moment I produced it all I could hear on it with me was Juvenile. I sat on this song until recently when I reached out to Juve’s team and ironed out the details and we made it happen.

Upcoming 100: There are thousands of artists trying to do what you are doing, what do you think gives you an advantage to break into mainstream America?

BChil: For one, I’m a great artist, songwriter and producer. I have God’s blessings and what He plans for me will be. I don’t focus on advantages or disadvantages.  I just do what I love and the rest will fall into place.

Upcoming 100: I’ve heard your latest music and it’s amazing! I can definitely tell your sound has evolved over the past few years from previous songs we’ve heard from you online. What are your thoughts on the evolution of an artist and the evolution of music today?

BChil: As with artists in the music industry, things are always changing. Hence, you should always have the ability to change with the wind. Continued growth should be within the mindset of all inspired artists.

Upcoming 100: Do you have other passions in life? Do you believe passion is an essential part of success?

BChil: Of course! I have the passion to become better every day that God wakes me up. Passion is what drives people to their ambition. To get the greatest benefits out of anything you do, you should have the passion or love for it or nothing will last.

Upcoming 100: With your current success and working with a renowned PR firm such as Starlight PR, What advice would you give to someone just starting out in his or her career who doesn't even have a studio to record but would love to do what you are doing now?

BChil: Invest, invest, and invest. If you’re not willing to invest in yourself how else will you be able to convince someone else to do so? Build plenty of bridges and relationships rather than burning and tearing them down.

Upcoming 100: Where can potential fans find out more about you?

BChil: They can follow me across social media via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @iAmBChil
