Garth Brooks to Open Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Country legend Garth Brooks will perform the inaugural concert at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the new home of the Atlanta Falcons.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

The Oct. 12 concert was announced Thursday (June 22) on Facebook Live and will feature his wife Trisha Yearwood, providing fans a first glimpse of the $1.6 billion stadium in a full-stage entertainment format.

The opening concert was booked by MAC Presents President Marcie Allen, WME Nashville's Rob Beckham and Tim Zulawski with AMB Sports + Entertainment.

“It was important for us to not only find an artist who could deliver the biggest show in the world," Zulawski said in a release provided to Billboard, "but also had the same fan-focused ideals. We knew the best artist who could deliver, and that was Garth Brooks.”

Tickets go on sale June 30 at 10 a.m. ET at Tickemaster.com/garthbrooks, or by calling (800) 745-3000.

“I’m thrilled to be back in Atlanta and honored to play the first concert in Mercedes-Benz Stadium,” Brooks said in a statement. “I’ve visited the stadium twice in the last month and all I can say is -- the fans are going to love it; it’s truly one-of-a-kind."

The stadium officially opens Aug. 26 with a Falcons preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals and will play host to a number of high-profile sporting events, including the SEC Championship, the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship, Super Bowl LIII in 2019 and the 2020 Men's Final Four.
