Miley Cyrus Leaked B-Sides Include Pharrell Production, Tyler, the Creator Feature

The songs "Mustang" and "The Way I Feel" bring us back to Cyrus' hip-hop phase.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

Miley Cyrus eschewed the self-proclaimed “dirty south hip-hop” of 2013’s Bangerz and the spacey psych-pop of 2015’s Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petzin lieu of a southern-fried rootsy sound on her sixth album, Younger Now. But fans yearning for Cyrus’ more eccentric days of yore can now satisfy themselves with two newly leaked tracks Idolator reports are from her Bangerzsessions.

The tracks in question, “Mustang” and “The Way I Feel,” demonstrate two sides of the pop singer’s repertoire. “Mustang” is a breezy mid-tempo number that floats on a languid bass line and puts Cyrus’ vocals front-and-center as she sings: “You drive a classic Mustang/ The ones with the stock wheels you didn’t change/ Plus it has a new sound system that bangs/ It makes me say, ‘dang’/ Will you take me for a spin?” Idolator notes that Cyrus’ fiancé Liam Hemsworth drives a Mustang, leading fans to speculate whether she wrote the two-minute B-side about him.

“The Way I Feel,” meanwhile, is an infectious dance floor throwback, originally recorded by Jennifer Hudson under the title “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel)” after Cyrus passed on it. Cyrus’ delivery gives the song a nervy, euphoric feel and Tyler the Creator drops in for a 15-second verse near the end. (T.I. has a longer feature on Hudson’s version.)

"The Way I Feel" was produced by Pharrell Williams, as we know from Hudson's officially released version, while Idolator reports that "Mustang" was also crafted by the hit-maker.

Billboard reached out to Cyrus' rep for comment but did not hear back at time of publishing.
