P!nk & Kelly Clarkson Perform R.E.M.'s 'Everybody Hurts' for 'Those Affected by the Events of the Last Year' at 2017 AMAs

“two of the world’s most powerful voices”

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

After an introduction from Jamie Foxx explaining that “two of the world’s most powerful voices” were joining forces for the first time to “to pay respects to all those affected by the events of the last year,” P!nk and Kelly Clarkson opened the 2017 American Music Awards on Sunday night (Nov. 19) with a performance of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts.”

The somber cover of the Automatic for the People hit found the two vocal powerhouses blending their voices beautifully. It ended with a hug between the two and a standing ovation from the crowd.
