Billy Joel Concert to Be Featured on Thanksgiving Episode of 'Arrow'

A Billy Joel concert will be the target of a terrorist attack on this week's episode of Arrow.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

On the CW series, Cayden James (played by Michael Emerson) threatens to blow up a concert venue, according to executive producer Marc Guggenheim.

“For the Thanksgiving episode of Arrow, we wanted Cayden James to threaten a major event at Star City. A variety of ideas were discussed, but when we settled on a rock concert, I knew it had to be Billy Joel,” Guggenheim, a longtime fan of the Piano Man, revealed to Entertainment Weekly. Footage from one of Joel's show's on Long Island, N.Y., will be featured in the episode.

“He’s always been an inspiration to me, personally and artistically," Guggenheim added. "I told him as much when I wrote to him to ask for his permission to use his concert footage in our episode and when he agreed, it was one of the happiest days of my career."

The Arrow producer opted to use a performance of Joel's "No Man's Land" because he's "always liked how that particular song sounds live.”

Arrow airs on Thanksgiving (this Thursday, Nov. 23) at 9 p.m. ET.
