Marshmello & Khalid's 'Silence' Surges to No. 1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart

Plus, Tove Lo tops Dance Club Songs and moves for Martin Solveig and Imagine Dragons.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

Marshmello moves to No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated Dec. 2) with "Silence," featuring Khalid (2-1). It's the masked DJ's second chart crown, after he donned his first just two weeks earlier when "Wolves," with Selena Gomez, hit the top spot; it's now at No. 3.

"Silence," the first leader for Khalid, collected 16.3 million U.S. streams in the tracking week, up 18 percent, according to Nielsen Music, and leads Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs for a 12th week. On the sales side, "Silence" moved 9,000 downloads, up 3 percent, and ranks at No. 2 for a fourth week on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales after topping the list dated Nov. 4. The song also grows its radio presence by 11 percent to 6 million in all-format audience.

"Silence" stops the Chainsmokers and Coldplay's "Something Just Like This" from notching a 26th week in the lead, as it slips to No. 2. Since the chart's January 2013 inception, the Chainsmokers' "Closer," featuring Halsey, leads all songs for the most weeks at No. 1 (27, in 2016-17). Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" is second (26 weeks, 2013-14), followed by "Something" (25 weeks, 2017).

HIGH LO: Tove Lo traipses to the top of Dance Club Songs with "Disco Tits" (2-1). The track, remixed by Oliver, Chris Lake and KREAM, among others, is Tove Lo's fourth leader and second as a lead act. She earned her first No. 1 three years ago this month, when Alesso's "Heroes (We Could Be)," featuring Tove Lo, hit the top. In April 2015, she led with "Talking Body" and in January 2016 she crowned Dance Club Songs for a third time, as featured on Lucas Nord's "Run on Love."

'STARS' SHINES: Martin Solveig saunters 14-7 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay with "All Stars," featuring Alma. It's French DJ Solveig's fourth top 10 and singer Alma's first. The track owes its success to core dance radio affiliates, led by SiriusXM's BPM, Music Choice's Dance/EDM channel and WFLZ-HD in Tampa, Florida (an iHeartRadio "Evolution" affiliate), which account for nearly all its airplay. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on over 80 top 40-formatted reporters.)

Also breaking into the Dance/Mix Show Airplay top 10 is Imagine Dragons' "Thunder" (16-10). The act's second top 10 equals the peak of its previous single, "Believer," which reached No. 10 on Sept. 2.
