Azealia Banks had something to say about that, posting an extended message on Instagram over the weekend in response. "Remy, the hottest things you’ve release since you’ve been out of jail are Nicki Minaj love letters and she’s STILL mile more important than you. Your obsession with Nicki Minaj is VERY UNHEALTHY. YOU ARE NOT IMPORTANT TO FEMALE RAP IM NOT SURE WHO LIED TO YOU AND TOLD YOU. You are a confused nicki Minaj Stan at best these days. You do not count in the real female rap conversation anymore."
Remy Ma didn't take kindly to Banks' message, firing back, "I’m officially airing out ALL y’all chicks that was on MY line heavy when I touched down & now all of a sudden got amnesia." Remy went on to post previous text messages Banks had sent to her. The private messages touched on her depression, saying, "Dealing with so much depression lately. I feel so trapped and like I can’t get ahead. I haven’t been booked for anything in a long long time. And don’t have money for my bills or the studio or anything. And it’s just hard getting back in the game.”
Minaj also came up in their past conversations, showing Banks' flip on her pro-Nicki sentiment, previously criticizing the Pinkprint artist. "When you get a SECOND Grammy before [Nicki Minaj] even gotten her first she will know what time it is." It got worse, as the alleged messages went on regarding Nicki: "No one cares about her since she fucked Meek Mill. She has to get the scent of dirty Philly dick off of her before I even care."
After backlash from fans and time to rethink her original critique, the "212" artist changed her tune a bit, crafting a more thought-out caption bashing Remy Ma. "Remy. You absolutely must step your shit up. The music you have been releasing is some serious old head rap shit and it’s 100% unfair that you stand up on your reality tv booster seat and make any statements about female rap as if you have done a single thing to move the cultural needle since you’ve been home. It is not 2000… battle rapping is dead. Gun clapping is not chic .. you are struggling to keep up with the rest of female rap and it’s time you seriously leave the Nicki Minaj subs and disses at home. No more auntie antics in 2018… for arts’ sake."
