Jason Derulo Partners With Zumba for Official 'Tip Toe' Choreography

Jason Derulo is the latest superstar to partner with Zumba in developing a collaboration between music and choreography.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

Derulo’s single “Tip Toe” will now boast an official Zumba choreography inspired by Derulo’s signature dance moves, and will be pulsed through Zumba’s global instructor network, which reaches 15 million fans in 200,000 locations.

“Dance is central to everything I believe in, and Zumba is the brand that makes dancing accessible to everyone,” says Derulo in an interview for Zumba.“What I love most about Zumba is that they make exercising fun, and have made it accessible to everyone, and all over the world -- and it’s a movement.”

Derulo isn’t the only one dancing to Zumba. In the last year, the company has launched partnerships with the likes of Pitbull, Daddy Yankee and Don Omar. Its newly-launched Strong By Zumba exercise program has used music by especially designed by the likes of Steve Aoki and Timbaland.

Now, the Derulo partnership signals Zumba’s interest in continuing to expand beyond its original Latin base.

“Jason is a chart-topping, global superstar and, like Zumba, has become his own genre-defying brand, merging pop, dance, and urban styles,” says Carolina Moraes, VP of Marketing for Zumba.

In fact, says Moraes, it was Derulo who approached Zumba to explore collaboration possibilities. “We were thrilled to learn that he wanted to work with us, especially knowing how popular his music is among our community and that the dance-hall inspired vibes of ‘Tip Toe’ fit perfectly into the Zumba class experience,” says Moraes.  “We are psyched to join forces with him, and show people the perfect way to kick off the New Year in a fun and healthy way, helping participants stay motivated in their pursuit to burn calories while having a blast.”

Zumba’s massive reach was a motivating factor for Derulo to reach out to the company. “I have seen so many of their videos online showing people dancing all over the world, making dancing accessible to everyone,” he says.  “They take that beat, layer in easy-to-follow choreography that literally moves you and burns some serious calories. That’s the ultimate trifecta of motivation for me.”
