Bette Midler & Sharon Stone to Star in 'Tale of the Allergist's Wife' Movie

Sharon Stone and Bette Midler are set to star in the odd-couple comedy The Tale of the Allergist's Wife.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

Midler is reteaming with director Andy Fickman, with whom she worked on Parental GuidanceThe Tale of the Allergist’s Wife sees Midler play Marjorie Taub, an upper-middle-class, upper-West-Sider in a later-life crisis.

Her loving husband, an allergist to the homeless, tries in vain to help. But everything changes when Marjorie's fascinating and mysterious childhood friend, Lee, played by Stone, arrives with the glamorous, globe-trotting life she always dreamed of.

As Lee becomes the Taubs’ permanent house guest, Marjorie's depression magically lifts, with a wild and unexpected turn. Robert Cortand, Daryl Roth will produce, with Jeffrey Melnick as executive producer.

Midler is best known for star-turns in For the Boys and The Rose and most recently won a Tony for best actress in a musical for Hello, Dolly! Stone won a Golden Globe for her role in Martin Scorsese’s Casino, which also earned her an Academy Award nomination.

Midler is represented by CAA, David Steinberg Entertainment and Larry Shire. Stone is also repped by CAA and Paul Nelson at Mosaic. Fickman is represented by WME and Daniel Rappaport at Management 360.
