Mac told Music Week that Payne’s album will be one to remember. “I’ve heard a lot of his stuff and I think it’s going to be a great album,” Mac said. “I wouldn’t say it’s a body of work that will flow, but what I like is that it’s going to be hit to hit to hit. And in my world, those are the best albums.”
Mac has also worked with Sheeran on his Hot 100 hit "Shape Of You." Sheeran also helped write Payne's first post-One Direction single "Strip That Down," which was produced by Mac.
Since One Direction’s hiatus, Payne has only released a handful of singles -- most recently his Fifty Shades Freed collaboration with Rita Ora, "For You." In May 2017, He told iHeartRadio that his new album would be “eclectic." "It's more like my playlist album; my favorite playlist of songs that I have made over the past year," the "Strip That Down" signer said. "So, some slow jams, there's a couple of dance songs on there, with some R&B stuff. So there's a lot -- it's a lot of different stuff."
There is no word yet on the title or official release date for Payne's debut solo LP.
