Loco Dice Goes Back to Techno's 'Roots' on Stark Single: Exclusive

Let's go back to a simpler time, when techno was hard, edgy and stark, played loud in dark warehouses for crowds of outcasts in Detroit.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

It was a heavy and industrial sound influenced by the work of Germany's Kraftwerk, and the electronic noise eventually made its way back to that country, carried with love to the dancers of Dusseldorf and Berlin.

It's there that DJ and producer Loco Dice was born and raised to love these futuristic sounds, he began a career that has placed him as one of the leading techno dons on the modern scene, but it's important not to forget your forefathers, and as he prepares for a big year of touring in 2018, Loco Dice takes us all back to his "Roots."

This is one song that's all about the beat. The melody comes in bleeps and spurts. It's a symphony of synthetic elements. It's like dancing through the circuits of an analog synth or an old-school computer hard drive. It builds slowly toward its energetic climax, all anxious feeling and ecstatic groove for nearly six minutes of techno bliss.

"Roots" is a special offering as Loco Dice prepares his mind, body and soul for his back-to-back set with the Martinez Bros. at Movement Detroit in May. That, too, will be a celebation of techno's past, present and future. Get in the vibe today with "Roots," out everywhere on DESOLAT Records Friday, Feb. 23, and shared below exclusively on Billboard Dance.
