Bow Wow Says Diddy Calling Him a 'F---ing Legend' Made Him Return to Music

On the heels of the release of his latest single "Yeahh," which sees Bow Wow making light of his viral #BowWowChallenge antics, the 30-year-old stopped by Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning for an 18-minute interview on Friday (Feb. 23).

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

The "Like You" artist touched on a multitude of topics about his comeback album, but one major takeaway was a conversation with Diddy that inspired him to "lock in" to music again.

“I remember, probably after I left y’all, I went to L.A., it was me and Puff. I went to Puff’s house," Bow Wow recalled, quoting Diddy: "'Look at me, bro. You a f---ing legend, bro. Cut the bullsh-- out, I see you pumping the brand -- I don’t wanna see sh-- else.'”

The So So Def rapper went on to admit that outsiders' opinions never really impacted his life, "I never really gave a f--- about what people said about me. I've never really been that type of person because I know who I am, but I knew at that moment, 'OK, you got everybody's attention. Everybody talking sh-,'" the CSI: Cyber actor added.

"There's only a few ways you can turn this sh-- around. Get to work, get to work. If everybody on you, everybody calling, everybody joking, you got the light on you, turn it around."

The Like Mike star later reflected on the legends he's connected with, as Bow moves into the next phase of his career. “I got [Snoop Dogg], I got this dude, I got [Jermaine Dupri], I really mean something to them. When [Diddy] looked at me and said those words to me, that’s when I just locked in -- say no more, that’s a forever promise.”

The Ohio native has high expectations for himself on NYLTH, which will be his last studio album and is expected to be released at some point this year. After several unproductive studio sessions with Jermaine Dupri, Pimpin' of Dem Franchize Boyzwas brought in, and the pair have worked exclusively together over the course of the last nine months with great chemistry.

The duo has crafted an estimated 130 tracks, according to Bow, but the former host of 106 & Park says he "only wants to do like 13 [songs]" on his album, though.
