Bruno Mars is the top-grossing touring artist on the latest weekly recap of Hot Tours (see below) based on $28 million in sales from concerts in Latin America and Australia that kicked of his 24K Magic tour’s second year on the road. That gross figure brings the tour’s overall revenue total to $240 million so far from more than 2.3 million sold tickets since the tour launched in March 2017.
This year’s opening Latin jaunt began on Jan. 31 and consisted of three stadium dates in Mexican cities. Monterrey hosted the first concert at Estadio Universitario, and then Mars played a two-night engagement at Mexico City’s Foro Sol stadium on Feb. 2-3. His final show in the country was in Guadalajara at Estadio Akron on Feb. 5. In those three venues, his overall attendance count reached 178,989 with box office revenue topping $15.7 million.
Following the Latin run and four shows in February in Las Vegas – part of his residency at the Park Theater at the Monte Carlo Resort, Mars kicked off the 24K Magic tour’s only trek through Oceania on Feb. 27 in Auckland, New Zealand. He then headed to Australia for a run of 14 shows in five markets during March. Two of the Aussie dates land on this Hot Tours tally based on box office results reported by the venues. In Sydney, he sold out five concerts at Qudos Bank Arena from March 17 through 24, grossing $9.2 million from a total of 88,592 sold seats. The Australian trek’s final engagement, a two-show run at Perth Arena is also included in this recap. The Perth shows on March 28-29 added $3.4 million to the tour’s overall box office earnings from a sold ticket count of 29,434.
Mars is currently on the road in Asia and will remain on the continent through mid-May. With festival appearances booked in Europe this summer and a final sweep through North American arenas in the fall, his tour is set to wrap at the end of October.
