iZNiiK & Beautiful Destinations Celebrate Earth Day With 'round the world': Listen

Consider again the pale blue dot that is our Earth.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

It feels massive from where we stand, but it's a precious and wondrous thing, a rare and wild thing to even exist, even more so our concept of life upon it. For all we know, we're the only things like us in the universe, and though we have seen evidence that some planets could exist with similar atmospheric conditions, they're many light-years away. This is our home, and we have to care for it.

Every year, we celebrate Earth Day as a reminder to be kind to our planet so that it may continue to be hospitable to us and other living creatures for hundreds and thousands of years to come. Unfortunately, modern man is not so mindful of the balance needed to keep Earth green and livable. There are many issues that plague our livelihood, but plastic in the oceans is one of the most visually jarring. Most of us have heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a small continent of manmade trash discarded and floating. It's made of 1.8 trillion pieces of plastic, and it's doing great harm to the wildlife and chemistry of our oceans, which are indeed all connected via worldwide currents.

Beautiful Destinations is a YouTube channel and Instagram account that has dedicated 2018 to help ocean-cleaning groups in their efforts to clean up the trash and help the wildlife affected by our carelessness. In celebration of Earth Day, they teamed with mystery producer iZNiiK to create a fun bit of content that exposes the issue but also gives hope.

iZNiik gave fans a new upbeat song called "round the world," which Beautiful Destinations used in its Earth Day social media campaign. It's a sunny tune about finding a place for yourself in all the wonders of our planet. From the Great Pyramids to the Great Barrier Reef, there is so much to see, enjoy and protect. Listen to "round the world" below, and check out the video to see just how our plastic waste affects our oceans.
