J. Cole’s Dreamville Launches Hurricane Florence Relief Initiative

J. Cole is a man of the people.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

After seeing the destruction created by Hurricane Florence, Cole’s Dreamville records have done their part for the sake of relief. Taking to Instagram, Dreamville launched their foundation and sent a heartfelt message to the people of North Caroline.

“North Carolina has a very special place in our hearts. The impact of Hurricane Florence has displaced families and has caused unprecedented damage to Fayetteville,” reads the caption. “The @DreamvilleFDN is asking for help and asking you to share this so we can spread awareness to help the people of Fayetteville.”

Rappers have often done their part to bring issues to light in the wake of a hurricane, from JAY-Z’s Minority Report, to Trae Tha Truth’s hands-on Hurricane Harvey efforts, Hip Hop has shined light on those devastated by catastrophic events. J. Cole, J.I.D, Bas, EarthGang, and whatever remains of the Dreamville program are following suite.

Check out their Foundation’s initiative here, and make a donation should you feel so inclined.
