Big Boi on Tiger Woods' Resurgence in the Golf World: 'Once a Champion, Always a Champion'

This past weekend, Tiger Woods clawed his way back to prominence with an impressive victory at the PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

The embattled golfer -- who has struggled with injuries and off-the-course issues over the years -- notched his 80th victory on Sunday, marking his first title in over five years. For Atlanta resident Big Boi, Woods' legacy as the sport's premier golfer was already entrenched, even before his runaway win.

"Champion," Big Boi succinctly says when speaking on the 14-time major champion to Billboard. "Once a champion, always a champion. Like he got the lion heart and it's a skill that he possesses where if things don't go one way, he comes right back. It's like riding bike, to see him get out there, it's the will to do it and the will to win. I love it."

Earlier in the week, Big Boi performed at the Tee Up ATL concert -- presented by Southern Company -- in light of the PGA Tour taking place in his hometown. Though his stroke isn't as masterful as Woods', Big Boi recalls several fun moments he had on the golf course, especially when he filmed his 2007 comedy, Who's Your Caddy, starring Faizon Love and Andy Milonakis.

"We were all amateurs," says Big Boi. "It was a whole lot of mulligan going on, you know? We were just swinging hard and trying to kill the ball. We were really just clowning, man. I think we might have broke some windows or something because we were really swinging super hard."

With Woods' stunning victory, and Big Boi proving to be a major draw at this year's festivities, the Outkast legend is hoping the PGA Tour will consider one day making a return back to the ATL. "Atlanta is really the hotbed for anything that's really popping right now from the films to the television to the movie industry and our sports teams," he says. To have the PGA here, it's only right and it's in right down in the heart of East Atlanta."
