New song "The Big Unknown" was released late Friday night (Nov. 9) from the upcoming film Widows.
Director Steve McQueen had conversations with Sade about the movie and asked her to write a song about "loss and survival," according to a press release.
“It was an honour to work with such a legend," McQueen told the Los Angeles Times about Sade's soundtrack contribution. "Sade is an incomparable talent and incredible artist who so rarely releases new material, but luckily the original series of Widows had deeply resonated with her.”
Sade delivers her trademark smoky vocals, singing empowered lyrics like "I won't surrender to this hard-hearted night."

The Widows soundtrack also features a score by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer. Widows hits theaters on Nov. 16.
