EDC Guangdong 2018 Brings Tiesto, Major Lazer to China: Recap

With fireworks lighting up the night sky, EDC Guangdong 2018 came to a close in Zhuhai, Guangdong.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

On Nov. 24-25, Zhuhai Hengqin Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort transformed into a two-day international music festival, bringing an extraordinary weekend to thousands of dance music lovers. The livestream, presented by Tencent and Huya, reached 5 million viewers per day.

Featuring live performances from Major Lazer, Tiësto, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Steve Angello, ZHU, ZEDD, Jonas Blue and other world-renowned DJs, EDC Guangdong also showcased the iconic stage and lighting production, theatrical performers and interactive carnival experience that EDC is known for around the world.

Zebra Media founder Scarlett Li and CEO Eric He shared with Billboard Radio China, "It is our goal to bring out the most authentic top show and spread the spirit of EDC's All Are Welcome Here to all music lovers."

A perfectly timed fireworks show cemented the weekend's success. Fireworks lit up the sky, providing an extraordinary backdrop for the incredible performances as lovers kissed and laughed in the audience.

EDC Guangdong's phenomenal production was another highlight. kineticFIELD, showcasing the kineticGAIA stage with a nod to the elements of mother nature, traveled internationally after its debut at EDC Las Vegas 2017. circuitGrounds made a comeback with its industrial theme, glowing with steel posts supporting five huge screens under EDC's electric sky.

Meanwhile, quantumValley, jointly presented by EDC and BUDX, brought trance via Dreamstate on Saturday and bass via Bassrush on Sunday. The unique Boombox Artcar provided a touch of bright color for the already-illuminated venue.

EDC is distinguished from other music events with its immersive aspects. Effervescent daisy lanterns and interactive art installations create a fantasy land of neon and color. In addition to the onstage DJs, Insomniac's original theatrical performers danced their way into hearts, dressed in extravagant costumes.

As the only international music festival that has come to China twice in one year, EDC Guangdong arrived 7 months after its debut in Shanghai. Adhering to the spirit of P.L.U.R.-- peace, love, unity, and respect -- EDC Guangdong spread happiness to every corner of the Pearl River Delta.
