The Social 50 is powered by data tracked by music analytics company Next Big Sound and ranks the most popular artists on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Wikipedia and Tumblr. The chart's methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views and engagement. The chart’s latest tracking week ended Dec. 6.
Jonas, who previously peaked at No. 15 on the Sept. 1-dated chart (he originally debuted on the social media-powered ranking in September 2014), launches back onto the list with increases in all social metrics, led by 253,000 Wikipedia views, a boost of 638 percent, according to Next Big Sound.
In addition to Wikipedia interest for Chopra’s new husband, Jonas also snagged 165,000 mentions on Twitter, and his tweets were reacted to 152,000 times. He also gained 37,000 new Twitter followers and 115,000 new likes to his Facebook page.
Jonas and Chopra were married Dec. 1 in Johpur, India, amid a multi-day ceremony in the latter’s home country. Concurrently, Chopra rules The Hollywood Reporter’s Top Actors chart, like the Social 50 a ranking based on social media metrics, thanks to activity surrounding her own posts from the wedding.
One of Jonas’ more engaged-with tweets was a photo of the singer with his brothers, Kevin, Joe and Frankie.
“One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other’s faiths and cultures,” Jonas tweeted Dec. 1. “And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so, so amazing.”
