Macklemore to Be Honored at 2019 MusiCares Concert For Recovery

Macklemore will be honored at the 2019 MusiCares Concert For Recovery, the charitable organization announced on Wednesday (Mar. 13).

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

The concert will take place at The Novo at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles on May 16, where the “Thrift Shop” rapper will both perform and be presented with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his ongoing commitment to helping those in the process of addiction recovery.

"Addiction is a disease that can affect anyone, and it takes resources and support to heal,” Macklemore said in a statement. “For me, recovery is a daily priority; without my sobriety everything I care about is at risk. I’m honored to support MusiCares in providing members of the music community who are suffering from addiction with the crucial services and resources they need."

Jeff McHale is set to host the event, which will also feature a special tribute to Mac Miller following the late rapper’s tragic overdose last September. Additional performers have yet to be announced.

As the charitable arm of The Recording Academy, one of MusiCares' missions is to "provide members of the music community access to addiction recovery resources and programs" including sober living information, weekly addiction support groups and a network of Safe Harbor Rooms at televised music shows and other major music events.
