A Florida man was arrested Monday after he allegedly brought a loaded gun to his child's middle school because his son called him crying, ABC News reports.

Christopher Freeman, 27, was cuffed at Bear Lakes Middle School in West Palm Beach, Florida at around 4 p.m. after authorities received a phone call from a school resource officer who claims that he saw "a large handgun" sticking out of Freeman's pants.

Freeman showed up at Bear Lakes Middle School in a wheelchair after he heard his son crying over the phone earlier in the day because a teacher "slammed him," the affidavit states. Freeman allegedly threatened the lives of school workers, if they didn't allow him to speak with his son. "Freeman was visibly upset and was yelling and screaming 'you're going to need more than what you got because of what I got,'" the arrest affidavit notes. "He also said 'I want to see the guy who slammed my son. I've got something for him.'"

"While Freeman was speaking with him, his son was grabbed by an adult and his phone went flying out of his hands. Someone then hung up the phone," Freeman said, according to the police report. "Freeman said he was very upset and came to the school."

Authorities say Freeman was armed with a loaded AK-47 Mini Draco, a pistol that he bought from a friend about a year ago. Freeman claims that he was unaware the gun was in his possession despite adding that he carries it all the time for protection.

Freeman has been charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds, aggravated assault with a weapon, and disrupting the peace. He is being held on a $75,000 bond, but could have his bond revoked due to an active criminal case against him.
