Jordan Peele Reveals His Unusual Cameo in 'Us'

Unlike other directors who have popped up in front of the camera for their brief appearances in their own projects, Peele made a unique cameo in his directorial debut by providing the groans of the dying deer found in the woods by Chris Washington, played by Daniel Kaluuya.

At the 3-minute mark of his interview with Fandango, Peele reveals that his cameo in Us came in the form of additional animal voice work. This time around, he lent his voice for a dying rabbit, and he even provided some audio of the blood-curdling sound. If you haven't seen Us yet, and you're wondering how the film manages to take a turn where a rabbit dies, then get yourself to the theater, like many people did this weekend. 

According to Deadline, Us narrowly exceeded its weekend box office predictions, pulling in approximately $70.2 million in ticket sales. Anticipation for Peele's follow-up feature was so high that the film surpassed the $33 million that Get Out brought in its whole debut weekend by Friday night. 

Despite its record opening for an original horror film, Us was unable to topple films in the same genre, like Halloween ($76.2 million), and the It reboot ($123.4 million). The Peele-directed project also had the biggest opening for a live-action original since 2009's Avatar ($77 million).
