DXclusive: Former Cash Money Artist TQ & Singer Vivica Jade Remake "You’re All I Need To Get By"

In honor of the 1995 Method Man classic “I’ll Be There For You/You’re All I Need To Get By” featuring Mary J. Blige, TQ and British R&B singer Vivica Jade have put their own touch on the song with a 2016 version.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

“This is definitely one of my favorite songs and the fact that the original is also one of my mom’s favorite songs,” TQ tells DX. “It just goes to show the power of good music. It’s a tribute to Meth, Mary, Marvin, and Tammi, and I hope people dig it … I had a ball remaking it.”

Since making a run with Epic Records and Cash Money Records in the early 2000s, Compton crooner TQ is beginning a new chapter. With his past breakout hit singles “Westside” and “Better Days,” he established himself as an R&B singer with a rapper’s musical sensibility.

Subsequent work on Cash Money Records with Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and Baby solidified TQ as an impenetrable creative force. While with the New Orleans-based label, he wrote and was featured on a string of gold and platinum albums. Since then TQ has released several full lengths, culminating with three new EPs in 2015.

TQ has plans for a full-length project for 2017.
