NEW MUSIC: BJ THE CHICAGO KID FEAT. MARVIN GAYE – ‘UNCLE MARVIN’

In honor of his three Grammy nominations, BJ the Chicago Kid has unleashed “Uncle Marvin” featuring vocals from Marvin Gaye.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

The soulful song pulls its piano-laden inspiration from the late legend’s “Cleo’s Apartment,” while BJ thanks his partner for her unconditional love.

“How can you do the things you do knowing the things you know?” he asks. “You turn right around and keep giving me amazing love, knowing that I keep doing wrong.”

This is not the first time BJ has collaborated with Marvin. They previously teamed up on a posthumous duet of “What’s Going On” to mark the 45th anniversary of the classic track.

This week, BJ earned Grammy nods for Best R&B Performance (“Turnin’ Me Up”), Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Woman’s World”), and Best R&B Album (In My Mind).
