Blake Shelton, "Voice" Hopefuls Sings John Lennon's Songs

Shelton's team opted for John Lennon's "Crippled Inside," from the 1971 solo album Imagine and originally featuring Dobro work by his fellow Beatle George Harrison.

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

Between the earthy growl of Stephanie Rice and 15-year-old prodigy Brennley Brown's angelic high notes, the musical skill of The Voice's Season Twelve top 12 performers is first rate. On last night's live eliminations, palpable tension took hold on the stage as fan-voting results were announced throughout the one-hour show.

In addition to results, G-Eazy performed his current single "Good Life," while coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton individually joined their teams on stage. Levine's team performed a moving tribute of The Beatles' "Hey Jude" in honor of The Voice Season Six finalist, Christina Grimmie who was murdered by a fan last June after a show.

Shelton's team opted for John Lennon's "Crippled Inside," from the 1971 solo album Imagine and originally featuring Dobro work by his fellow Beatle George Harrison. Here, Shelton accompanied his remaining team members – Aliyah Moulden, TSoul, and Lauren Duski – in a relaxed performance that played up the rockabilly feel of the song and contrasted with its bleak message. Of the three contestants, country singer Duski seemed the most comfortable, with her subtle twang and unwavering pitch a highlight throughout.

Meanwhile, soulful rocker Troy Ramey performed Dobie Gray's 1973 classic hit "Drift Away," during the "instant save" round against the other lowest-voted contestant, teenage pop singer, Mark Isaiah. Earlier in the show, he said "Gwen [Stefani] is the perfect coach for me since she believed in me since day one," and credited her with his recent musical improvement. Ultimately, fans saved Isaiah. Watch Ramey's performance below.

The Voice live playoffs return next Monday, May 1st at 8:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
