Aaleyacis Kobana Introduces New Wave of Funk To The World with Upcoming Party Album ‘Funky Baby’

LONG BEACH, CA – Funk is not dead … at least, not if Aaleyacis has anything to say about it.

True funk, like the genre made popular in the 70s and 80s, is a sound that only a few die-hard musicians still create. Many of today’s artists weren’t even born when the funk greats like Parliament Funkadelic ruled the airwaves. However, for Kobana – a 20-year veteran of the music industry – funk is not only one of the best music genres, but the foundation of his sound.

His new album, “Funky Baby,” available Dec. 1, is his attempt to remind people of the greatness of funk, while fusing his sound with the creativeness of today’s young artists.

“It’s a laid back party album and truly funky,” he said. “I grew up in the 70s and 80s when funk bands were still hitting it hard, and rap went mainstream.  A lot of my generation doesn’t feel the young cats, but I do. it’s not for our generation, it’s their brand of hip-hop.”

Kobana – whose name nods to the Kopa Kobanaas a way of infusing himself with the party – is delivering an album full of feel-good music. It’s “clean, with rough edges,” and includes minor references to the fact that he likes to “blow the herb” from time to time.

The first single off the album is a song called “Thrill of a lifetime,” which is currently available on most digital download sites.

“This single tells the story of a lady going to an amusement park with some friends after just ending a long-time relationship, and trying to enjoy herself and have the thrill of a lifetime,” he said. “Like a roller coaster, life can be a wild ride, and sometimes you just need to get away from your problems and ultimately find a way to enjoy life. When people hear my music, of course I want them to enjoy the music as well as the content. If it makes people feel good, I’m happy.”
