CharlesBryan Overcomes Near-Death Shooting, Birthing a Renewed Passion for Music

LOS ANGELES, CA – CharlesBryan is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and creative artist who’s been making music for as long as he can remember.

From talent shows to community festivals, and battle raps, CharlesBryan became familiar with the stage when he was young. He has continued to grow and mature his artistry, and his music has developed into deeper, more personal sounds connecting with audiences far and abroad.

Returning after a two-year hiatus, his passion for music was reinvigorated by a near-death experience. After being shot in the face in a drive-by shooting, he further realized his life’s passion and purpose was to create good music. While recovering in the hospital, he dedicated himself to living the rest of his life toward that cause, and when he emerged he did so with a new drive and persistence to cultivate a truly original sound. Today, a CharlesBryan listening experience includes a fusion of hip-hop, R&B, soul and a slathering of all the personal facets that make him the artist that he is.

“T.A.L.M;  short for They All Left Me,”  is his most recent project showcasing five-explosive “mood tracks” that feature writing and production from some of the world’s newest and most influential talents in the game today. It's already making waves in the independent music markets. The lead single, “My Own Wave,” has already garnered more than two million listens on Soundcloud, was featured in ATL Top 20's Playlist, and has received acclaimed reviews from industry music insiders.

“‘T.A.L.M.’ is definitely a mood project,” CharlesBryan said. “I was feeling a little empty, and the vibe was definitely one of loneliness and self discovery when creating this project. I think it’s a mood that a lot of people can relate to when going through life experiences. I have a song where I’m talking about my ex girl who left me, and another where I'm speaking on people walking out on me during my healing time. Really just telling my story via music with a dope mixture of rhymes and melodies.”

The success of CharlesBryan's EP thus far has also birthed promising opportunities such as working with renowned West-coast Dj - DJ Carisma, and performing live for Los Angeles' Power106 radio station for their 8th floor series session. Most recently, CharlesBryan received an invitation to participate in the Swisher Sweet’s class of 2018 Artist project, where he shared the stage in Los Angeles with recording artist Desiigner, and where he performed songs off his most recent EP.

“I remember going to my first concert many moons ago, and seeing performers on stage telling stories through words and rhythms and knowing that’s what I wanted to do,” he said. “That’s when I started DJ-ing at school – at lunch and other events. I got involved in a lot of local rap groups and competitions but after awhile my passion dimmed and I decided to take a step back from music. It was when the incident with the shooting happened, it's like it gave me the drive to go even harder this time. I had always been involved in things like rhyming or putting a beat together, but now I’m really focused on winning after I felt like They All Left Me.”
