Exclusive Interview with Dead Hendrix

Upcoming 100: What inspired you to pursue a career in music, and how did you initially discover your passion for creating music?

Dead Hendrix:
Dead Hendrix originally decided to pursue a career in music in middle school. He had always been interested in music. Of all types. But he started narrowing in on Rap, and creating his own, in the 8th grade. He was always a talented writer and after realizing all his favourite artists are only writing about their own experiences and traumas (alot of which he related to), Hendi thought maybe this is something he could do.

Upcoming 100: Can you describe your artistic process, from conceptualization to completion? How do you maintain consistency in your work?

Dead Hendrix:
It usually starts with the beat. After finding a beat tht really speaks to me, I’ll get in the car and blast the speakers with it. After finding the flow I work on the lyrics until the track is ready to take to the studio.

Upcoming 100: Your style seems to be a unique blend of various influences. How have these influences shaped your artistic identity and how do you continue to grow and evolve as an artist?

Dead Hendrix:
Through my career, my music gradually shifted to a blend of Punk and Rap. I try to stay true to my style.

Upcoming 100: As an up-and-coming artist, how do you balance your creative vision with the need to appeal to a wider audience or potential patrons?

Dead Hendrix:
In my experience, the best way to gain new fans or grow your audience is to stay original.

Upcoming 100: Social media plays a significant role in promoting artists today. How do you use these platforms to showcase your work and connect with your audience?

Dead Hendrix:
As my experience in music has grown, my social media skills have grown with it. Platforms like tiktok or instagram are the some of the most important ways to get your music out to new people.

Upcoming 100: Collaborations are becoming increasingly common in the music world. What has been your experience with collaborating with other artists and how do you believe it has impacted your growth as an artist?

Dead Hendrix:
One of my biggest reasons for getting into music was the idea of collaborating with artists. Collaborating with othe like minded artists has led to some of my best work, like my projects with Levi Zadoff.

Upcoming 100: Financial stability can be a challenge for many artists. How do you manage your finances while pursuing your artistic career and what strategies have you implemented to ensure long-term sustainability?

Dead Hendrix:
It’s important to have a backup plan. Not having to stress so much about money and the future can also have good effect on your music itself.

Upcoming 100: How do you handle criticism or negative feedback on your work? Can you share a time when you faced such a situation and how you responded?

Dead Hendrix:
Failing is the best way to succeed. When i was working on Dead Summer EP with Levi. I was proposing different tracks for our last slot on the project and I had worked pretty hard on this one open. But when I brought it to Levi he didn’t like it and told me we should start from scratch. In the end he was right because the new song ended up being Love Game, the highest viewed song on the EP.

Upcoming 100: Music can be a powerful tool for social change and addressing important issues. How do you incorporate these themes into your work and what messages do you hope to convey through your music?

Dead Hendrix:
I always incorporate topics i believe in and that people can relate to into my music.

Upcoming 100: Lastly, what advice would you give to aspiring artists who are just starting their journey in the world of music?

Dead Hendrix: Learn as much as you can about social media and the ones who make it never gave up
