Their distinct sound, characterized by high gain, extensive use of feedback and distortion, and J Mascis's melodic guitar solos, has been highly influential.
Under the banner of J Mascis and Friends he has previously released two solo albums and in March this year a newly styled mostly acoustic album offering entitled ‘Several Shades Of Why’ was put out on Sub Pop Records.
During his UK tour and specifically the day after playing a storming solo set at North London's Garage Music-News.com met up with a very tired J to find out a little more about the project, guitars and shopping in London.
