The Sydney singer and songwriter bags her fifth ARIA leader with Bridge Over Troubled Dreams (Sony), new at No. 1. With her latest chart feat, Goodrem draws equal second alongside ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Kasey Chambers for most No. 1 titles on the national survey by an Australian female solo artist.

Goodrem has previously climbed the summit with the blockbuster Innocent Eyes (March 2003), Mistaken Identity (November 2004), Delta (October 2007) and Wings Of The Wild (July 2016), and just missed out on adding to that tally with her previous album, the Christmas-themed Only Santa Knows, which peaked at No. 2 last December.
The multiple ARIA Award-winning singer recently become an author. She published a book under the same name, featuring the stories behind each song on the new LP.
Also new to the chart is ‘90s Melbourne rock faves You Am I, whose 11th studio album The Lives Of Others (Caroline/Universal) bows at No. 3, giving the band their first Top 10 since 2001’s Dress Me Slowly, which peaked at No. 3 May.
American hip-hop star J. Cole has the highest debut for an international act this week as The Off-Season (Interscope/Universal) blasts in at No. 3. It’s the followup to 2018’s KOD, which ruled the ARIA chart.
Prolific psychedelic rock act King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard snags a 12th title in the ARIA Top Ten as L.W. (Flightless Records/Inertia) re-enters at No. 4, lifted by its release on vinyl. Their next album, Butterfly 3000, should fly in June 11. Butterfly will be the Melbourne group’s 18th studio album.
Meanwhile, The Black Keys bag a fifth Top 10 as Delta Kream (Nonesuch Records/Warner) starts at No. 8. The blues band reigned over the ARIA Albums Chart once, with 2014’s Turn Blue.
Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, Russ Millions & Tion Wayne’s “Body” (Warner UK/Warner) enters a second week at No. 1.
On the same day Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album Sour arrives, her third single from it “Good 4 U” (Interscope/Universal) enjoys the brightest start by any single in the land Down Under. It debuts at No. 2 for the U.S. artist’s third Top Ten single this year, following “Déjà Vu” (No. 6) and her breakout, No. 1 hit “Drivers License”.
