When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

Maxo Kream has paid tribute to his late father on his new song “No Then You a Hoe.”

Following the death of his dad, Emekwanem Biosah Sr., last month, the Houston rapper released a track on Monday (March 11) in honor of the man he called his “idol.”

Over sparse, somber production from Nascent, Maxo details his father’s health struggles and also how much he meant to him.

“Real street legend, to me you was my papa, though/ Heart attack, a couple strokes, blood pressure, dementia/ Papa Maxo was a soldier and through me forever livin,'” he raps.

Maxo also raps about the final weeks and months of his father’s life: “Can’t even lie, fucked me up inside but still I played it tight/ Stay strong you gon’ be alright, you tough as hell, you gotta fight/ Mama calling me, ‘He be screaming, crying, can’t sleep at night’/ He say the pain be killing him, pray for God to come take his life.”

He also detailed the moment he found out his father had passed: “Getting calls from the doctor saying daddy health declining/ Jumped inside the Lamborghini, Highway 59 I’m flying/ ICU with Josh and Ju, looked at my mama and she cried/ 10 minutes ‘fore I made it say he passed away and died.”

Alongside a snippet of the track on Instagram, Maxo wrote in the caption: “Rip @papamaxo yu finally at peace .. I had to get this off my chest b4 we laid yu to rest ‘No then you a hoe.'”

The song’s accompanying video, which includes footage from Emekwanem Biosah Sr.’s funeral, can be seen below.
