Rih Rih has been cast in the show’s fifth and final season as Marion Crane, the role made famous by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho (Bates Motel is a prequel series to Psycho).

“I’m about to check into the Bates Motel very soon, and guess who’s playing Marion?” said Rihanna in a clip announcing the news at Comic-Con.

“We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way,” added executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin. “We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate.”

Bates Motel will be Rihanna’s biggest acting gig to date following supporting roles in Battleship and This Is the End, plus a voice over role in Home.
