Versatility Makes “Princesa” By The Royaies Stand Out

TORONTO - With a drive to make their mark in the music industry, The Royaies are making waves across the globe with “Princesa,” a Latin-flavored love song with a sexy Reggaeton and R&B vibe.

The Royaies are four cousins, two sets of brothers who share the same last name and bring different styles and talents to the studio, making “Princesa” a unique song that only The Royaies could create. “Princesa” combines the quartet’s harmonies laid over Latin-inspired guitar riffs, making this jam perfect for a romantic night and a long slow dance with a lover.

“‘Princesa’ is a love song, but not completely directed towards one girl or person,” said Shyon. “We have our own different little takes on it. ‘Princesa’ is a love song to all our musical influences that we’ve taken from.”

Brothers Shyon and Axel have been influenced by musical legends like Drake and The Weekend, taking their inspiration from the Toronto music scene. Brothers Arvin the Poet and Elijah grew up in the Middle East and arrived in Canada four years ago. Together The Royaies are motivated and hungry to take a bite out of the music scene but determined to do it their way with music showcasing each artist’s specific talents.

Utilizing different cultures and influences from global artists, The Royaies have the perfect foundation for music that resonates with fans across the globe. “A lot of artists have one specific style that they come up with on the different songs, but we have the unique styles that we combine in one song,” explained Axel.

“My role not only in the song (but) with the whole band is bringing home melodies, vocals, and cords that really suit the vibe and the mood of the song,” said Shyon.

Using his charisma and confidence, Shyon said when he sings “Princesa,” it is like “making eye contact with a girl from across the room, and you start dancing -  communicating using your body through the music.”

Taking inspiration from the Iranian poet Hafez, Arvin the Poet always wanted to write. “When it comes to music, I started combining poetry with rap. I use different tools such as metaphors and personification when turning my poetry into lyrics,” he said.

For Elijah, his soft and sexy personality shines. “I like to connect to listeners with strong emotions and a melody that sticks with them.”

Currently, The Royaies have only released “Princesa.” “We want to make music that that connects to people,” said Shyon. “We care about putting out good music not putting out a lot of songs that are not who and what we are.  We pride ourselves on the fact that through the versatility of our different backgrounds, we send out music that resonates.”

If “Princesa” is an example of what fans can expect in the future, the music industry needs to make room for The Royaies because they will make hits for many years.
