Picasso De Conscience Touching Souls With Old-School Vibe, New-School Sound

BELLWOOD, Ill. — Born in the West Suburbs of Chicago, Picasso De Conscience is working to touch souls with new tracks that sport an old-school vibe.
Picasso said some of his songs can be a bit wild and some of his videos can be called explicit at times, but he’s always working to produce a different sound that reaches deep into the mind and the soul with each new release.

“My next song shouldn’t sound like my last song and I like to go with the flow of things,” Picasso said. “If I don’t know what to write about, the beat will help me. I walk down the street and I find something to play with. I’m an original orchestrator. I believe you don’t necessarily have to conform to what someone else is doing, you can always do what you like but remember, don’t be selfish. You can listen with your ears, but don’t forget to listen with someone else’s ears as well.”

Picasso said he’s been rapping since he was a child and he put out his first rap video when he was in high school.

Now he runs two businesses, a production label called Rogue Solutions Entertainment LLC, and a promotions company called Hood Genius Solutions LLC. He’s also spending hours in the recording studio turning out songs that mix old-school and new-school sounds to reach out to as wide an audience as possible.

“With one company I promote, I run ads and everything and I’m good at setting up a target audience for people when it comes to promotion,” Picasso said. “With the other, I get the videos done myself, I get the songs recorded myself, photo shoots and all, you name it. We’ve got people who do everything. It’s an up and coming label for people who are kind of outcasts and need money to feed their dreams.”

Picasso has some new tracks and videos he’s promoting as well. His most recent video release, a song called “Changed Man,” contains a blunt message.

“My main message in ‘Changed Man’ is to give off this aura field to where you don’t have to be, pretty much a sucker,” he said. “I had the ladies in there to catch your attention too. I describe the dark side, the loner side, of being a changed man but in a positive way. I glorify handling your business, being alone because when you’re alone and you accept being alone, you can solve problems without anyone else having to interfere.”

Another recent release, called “Match,” mirrors life in that it has a lot going on all at once.

“People nowadays are emotional, so I’m pretty much telling you you can handle things instead of doing the emotional thing and let your emotions take over,” Picasso said. “I’ve added a little bit of spontaneity with a touch of childhood memories, with Bugs Bunny in there. I’ve got the nurses and everything. They’re not just girls up in there, they’re doing something. They’re on purpose. I’m saying instead of getting angry with someone else because of a certain situation, you probably shouldn’t do what I’m saying either but it’s better than the stuff you were going to do last week.”

Picasso said he’s got a number of new tracks that are close to being ready for release in the next few weeks.  One is a song called “Real Good,” where he collaborate with the Chicago legend Chellah. He’s also got a song called “I Gotchu,” which has a bit of an R&B sound to it.

“Some of my songs are a bit of old school, some of my songs are a bit of wild, some are a little more explicit,” Picasso said. “I wanted to soften it up a little bit, just do a little song for the ladies, expand my horizons when it came to tracks and beats and stuff. I want to make all types of music, rock, pop, plenty of songs coming soon and I’ll be gradually leaking it out to the crowd to build up the suspense in life.”

Understanding the technique behind Picasso De Conscience’s musical mastery is why he continues to attract new fans with his no-nonsense songs.

“I listen with my ears and your ears,” he said. “I can give you what you want and what you need. There’s a way of going about things without having to conform.”
