NBA YoungBoy continues to stand as one of hip hop’s most dominant figures. True young superstars are rare, but he firmly holds that title and wears it comfortably. On Tuesday, he delivered something new for his core fanbase with the release of “Top Cobain.” The track leans into a melodic lane and carries a celebratory tone throughout. Its accompanying video pulls footage from his recent tour, which has already cemented itself as one of the genre’s biggest. Lyrically, YoungBoy reflects on the rock star life he is living, drawing comparisons between himself and Kurt Cobain. Right now, he feels firmly in his prime, and when it comes to consistently turning out hits, very few artists are operating at his level.
