Ty Dolla $ign is getting ready to release his upcoming project girl music vol. 1 on March 6, and it looks like he is leaning into a more R&B driven and grounded sound this time around. As an early preview, he links up with his label artist and protégé Leon Thomas on the new single "miss u 2," which features strong sampling and highlights their natural chemistry. The production keeps things minimal with a snap driven rhythm, while smooth synth layers and subtle details fill out the sound. Leon brings a standout vocal performance that really lifts the track, while Ty delivers exactly what fans expect from him. It is a solid introduction to the project, and hopefully just one of many standout moments on girl music vol. 1.
