The last year has been a rollercoaster ride for Aldis Hodge. Portraying MC Ren in “Straight Out Of Compton,” Hodge recalls his first conversation with MC Ren himself. Finding out they shared similar energy during a two hour talk, Hodge speaks on living the role of the famed NWA emcee.

Elaborating on his legacy and underrated status within the group, Hodge reveals that himself and the cast re-recorded the whole “Straight Outta Compton” album and practiced performances regularly.

Since the conclusion of the film Hodge has stated up a new role as Noah on “Underground,” a WGN series that premieres on March 9th. Showcasing the life of plantation workers planning a 600-mile escape to freedom, Hodge discusses all the he learned about American history while filming the series. Acting in some dark scenes where he fights for his life, Hodge describes the filming process as incredibly humbling.
