Maisie Peters is currently on track to score her second straight UK Number 1 album with the release of her third studio project, Florescence.
The emotionally driven record, which centers around themes of healing, self awareness, and personal growth, is aiming to follow the success of her 2024 album The Good Witch, which previously reached the top of the UK charts. Her debut album, You Signed Up For This, peaked at Number 2 back in 2021.
However, the race for the Number 1 spot is proving to be highly competitive, as Michael Jackson’s compilation album The Essential Michael Jackson is making a strong push back toward the top position. After being knocked down by Drake’s ICEMAN last week, the collection currently sits at Number 2 in the latest midweek chart update and could still challenge Peters for the crown.
Elsewhere in the chart race, Michael Ball is heading toward his 15th UK Top 10 album with Glow, which is currently projected to land at Number 4.
Meanwhile, YUNGBLUD is seeing renewed momentum as his former Number 1 album Idols climbs back up to Number 7 after the release of two new physical editions featuring bonus tracks.
New Jersey rock band Bleachers are also eyeing a strong debut with their sixth album Everyone For Ten Minutes, which is currently sitting at Number 8.
The latest midweek chart update also highlights several notable returns and career milestones. Alternative rock band A are projected to break into the Top 20 at Number 17 with PRANG, marking their first studio album since 2001.
Ed O'Brien, best known as the guitarist for Radiohead, is currently at Number 27 with his second solo album Blue Morpho, while Yorkshire rock group Marmozets are tracking at Number 38 with CO.WAR.DICE.
One of the standout stories of the week belongs to Northampton independent artist Billy Lockett, who is currently in line for his first ever UK Top 40 album with Things Are Looking Up.
Lockett recently gained viral attention online after sharing an honest video series filmed with his mother in their kitchen, where he openly discussed the financial struggles many independent musicians face. Thanks to a wave of new support from social media, the singer is now projected to debut at Number 33 and could secure a major career breakthrough.
