Deftones delivered the largest UK headline concert of their career when they closed Outbreak x All Points East in London last night, Sunday August 23. View photographs, videos, the complete song list and more from the event below.
The Sacramento art metal veterans returned to the capital after finishing their huge winter tour at The O2 in February. This time, they led the final day of the first All Points East 2026 weekend, which was presented alongside Outbreak festival. The appearance followed earlier headline performances from Lorde, Jorja Smith and Tems.
The day’s bill represented both the wide reach of Deftones and the varied music that has shaped them. It ranged from the gothic post punk of Interpol and the intense power of IDLES to the adventurous genre mixing of JPEGMAFIA and the emotional force of AFI.
Interpol performed the first of their two London shows that day before moving to Village Underground for a smaller late night celebration marking the arrival of their new album ‘This Mirror Weighs A Ton’. Earlier, they attracted a large audience to the East Stage with a sharp performance covering their full career. Much of the set focused on debut album ‘Turn On The Bright Lights’, which is a personal favorite of Deftones singer Chino Moreno.
With The Walkmen drummer and Paul Banks’ MUZZ colleague Matt Barrick joining the lineup while Sam Fogarino continues recovering from spinal surgery, the New York indie group powered through ‘Evil’, ‘Rest My Chemistry’, ‘The New’, ‘Slow Hands’ and ‘PDA’. Upcoming songs ‘See Out Loud’ and ‘Wings On Fire’ retained the band’s familiar character before their eighth album arrives on Friday, August 28.

A packed audience remained near the East Stage for a fiery performance from Australian punks Amyl & The Sniffers. Singer Amy Taylor used her time in front of the crowd to support women’s safety and a free Palestine while criticizing “the right wing shit” spreading throughout culture and politics. That defiant atmosphere continued across Victoria Park when IDLES attracted one of the weekend’s largest audiences to the West Stage.
Beginning with the intense attack on “racist c**ts” heard in their new song ‘Levitator’, Joe Talbot and his bandmates made their only scheduled London performance of 2026 unforgettable. Before introducing their “new British national anthem” ‘I’m Scum’, Talbot asked whether there were “any scumbags in the audience”. He later encouraged widespread cries of “Free, free Palestine” and opened the pit during a performance worthy of a headline slot. The set included modern rock favorites ‘Never Fight A Man With A Perm’, ‘Mother’, ‘Dancer’, ‘Danny Nedelko’ and ‘Mr Motivator’. IDLES appear ready for a major summer as their “most exciting album” yet approaches.
Deftones have found another wave of popularity after ‘Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away)’, ‘Sextape’ and ‘Cherry Waves’ became popular on TikTok during recent years. The renewed attention introduced younger listeners to their carefully built catalogue and strengthened support for their praised 2025 album ‘Private Music’. Now performing at the height of their abilities, the group filled the 50,000 capacity festival field from the front of the East Stage to its furthest visible point.
Notable faces in the audience included former Savages singer and solo musician Jehnny Beth, Foals drummer Jack Bevan and Dead Man’s Shoes actor and musician Paddy Considine. Considine previously received a ‘White Pony’ tattoo during the band’s last visit to the UK.
Although clearly moved by the scale of the occasion, Chino Moreno spoke sparingly between songs. Instead, he guided Deftones through an intense and deeply emotional performance that covered every side of their sound, moving from heaviness to tenderness and from sensuality to menace. Cinematic images displayed across the festival’s enormous screens strengthened every shift in mood.
The songs that recently found success online received some of the evening’s strongest reactions, but the audience also showed considerable affection for the rhythms of ‘Swerve City’ and ‘Rocket Skates’. Other highlights included the crushing ‘Milk Of The Madonna’, the wild beauty of ‘Change (In The House Of Flies)’, rare fan favorite ‘Risk’ and the ferocious older closing numbers ‘Lotion’ and ‘7 Words’.
With no noticeable drop in momentum, Moreno and the rest of the group explored their entire emotional range and created a remarkable atmosphere for another defining Deftones performance.

Discussing the band’s unexpected online popularity with NME last year, Moreno said: “Even if we thought about it that way – ‘Oh, we need to make something for everybody’ – I think we’d be fooling ourselves to think we had a formula to do that.”
When questioned about what has allowed the band to connect across generations, he answered: “The answer is that I don’t know. I would like to think that it is because we’ve written good songs that have stood the test of time and transcend generations.”
Deftones will continue their summer schedule with concerts in Ireland, Scotland, France and Portugal. Their year will later finish with appearances at Sick New World in Texas and their personally curated Dia De Los Deftones. Tickets and further details are available here.
