Moby Commends Billie Eilish for Using Her Platform to Address Social Issues

The legendary producer's praise for Eilish and her brother FINNEAS follows Eilish's recent comments about how "eating meat is inherently wrong."

When up-and-coming cartoonist Keef Knight has a traumatic run-in with the police, he begins to see the world in an entirely new way.

Moby has publicly defended Billie Eilish after the pop star sparked debate online with recent comments calling meat consumption “inherently wrong.”

During a recent interview with Elle, Eilish was asked what issue she would “die on a hill for,” leading the singer to speak candidly about her views on eating meat.

“Y’all not gonna like me for this one,” she said. “Eating meat is inherently wrong. Two things cannot coincide: ‘I love animals … and I eat meat.’ You can’t do both. You can eat meat, go for it. You can love animals. But you can’t do both.”

After facing backlash over the comments, Eilish doubled down on social media, posting clips showing animals in overcrowded conditions and being mistreated by handlers while writing, “stay f–king mad at ME … i really don’t give a goddamn f–k.”

Now, longtime animal rights advocate Moby is praising both Billie and her brother FINNEAS for consistently using their platforms to speak openly about political and social causes.

In a video shared to Instagram Monday (May 11), Moby explained that Billie, FINNEAS, and their mother Maggie Baird used to regularly visit his former Los Angeles restaurant Little Pine.

“And honestly I think they’re amazing,” Moby said. “They’re smart and funny and creative.”

He continued by applauding Billie’s willingness to address controversial topics despite knowing it could upset portions of her audience.

“And what’s so impressive in watching Billie handle herself as this huge public figure is that she uses her platform not just for self promotion but to address important issues, even if it runs the risk of alienating her fans,” he said. “It’s so impressive watching someone use social media and use media to draw attention to incredibly important issues and to really challenge people. So if I had children, I’d say be more like Billie.”

In the comments section of the post, Maggie Baird thanked Moby for his support while also reflecting on his now closed vegan restaurant. “Thank you for all you do. And still miss Little Pine,” she wrote.

Little Pine, Moby’s fully plant based restaurant located in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake neighborhood, originally opened in 2015 before permanently closing in late 2022.

Moby has remained heavily involved in animal rights activism for years and recently announced that all of the profits from his Coachella 2026 performance would be donated to multiple animal rights organizations.
