Eric Clapton reportedly ended his recent concert in Madrid early after being struck by an object thrown from the crowd.
The incident happened shortly after the 81 year old music icon performed Cocaine at Movistar Arena on May 7.
According to a fan site, “an audience member threw a record at Eric near the end of the show, striking him in the chest.”
Fortunately, Clapton was reportedly unharmed following the incident.
Videos circulating online appear to show what looked like a vinyl sleeve hitting the legendary guitarist in the chest as he exited the stage.
Following the moment, Clapton reportedly left without returning for his scheduled encore performance.
Despite the disruption, the rock legend is still preparing for a major live appearance later this year.
The Layla musician is set to headline a special one off concert at Sandringham Estate as part of the HeritageLive events taking place between August 20 and August 23.
Clapton will close out the series with a headline performance on Sunday, August 23.
Giles Cooper from HeritageLive Festivals praised the upcoming event, saying: “Eric Clapton is one of the greatest musicians of all time and it’s a dream come true for all of us at HeritageLive Festivals to have him play at The Sandringham Estate for us next August.
“It’s going to be such a special and unique event – one of those gigs where you say in years to come ‘I was there!’. We just can’t wait!”
