Sam Welch is taking listeners on a spiritual journey to a new world with his single “Satellite”

Sam Welch has been exploring spiritual transcendence throughout his musical career but now he’s doing it through a new metaphorical concept. His latest single “Satellite,” which comes from the album of the same name, is all about moving from one world to the next. Built on the genre he pioneered himself, “vocally resonant pop,” the track’s unique production and layered lyrics are attention grabbing and unique. 

Sam Welch’s music is known for being visually and mentally inspiring. His lyrics cover a variety of concepts, often through a creative lens as he depicts his views of the world in various ways. Sometimes these views take his listeners to different worlds and sometimes they prompt them to look within themselves. Exploring spiritual transcendence is a constant across his music and “Satellite” gives his perspective on the afterlife, connecting it to another popular topic across music and the world, outer space. 

“I wanted to write about death in terms of moving from one world to the next through a cosmic framework. I thought of a satellite as something made by man that's meant to go into outer space. I wanted to talk about the interplay with both and how they go from one world to the next."

Inspiring others is the goal across the music Sam Welch makes. As a mental health advocate who has fought personal battles of his own, he is well aware of the power music can have. He wants people to feel inspired and motivated as they listen to not only this song, but the rest of the music in his discography too. He’s speaking to his listeners and empathizing with whatever they’re going through.

“I want to offer listeners hope and comfort. The last line of the song is 'Everything will be alright…Music helps me be less pessimistic about life and I like helping others through my music and giving them a different outlook on life." he said

Making music and Sam’s spiritual journey are intertwined. This is why music is so integral to his life because it’s not simply something he does in his spare time. His subject matter directly overlaps with his day-to-day life. He’s living through his lyrics and continuing his spiritual journey through life and sharing it with others.

"Music is an integral part of the worship process. It's auditory communication and engagement. It's very powerful. Music and spirituality are directly connected...There's an overlap between spirituality and emotional recovery and regulation. The music I write regularly discusses that.”  he said. 

As Sam Welch’s musical career grows, he’s gone from performing at open mics to getting paid gigs in local areas in his home state of Massachusetts. He’s also continuing to write his newsletter and share his spiritual journey with his supporters. You can sign up for his newsletter on his website.
