An exclusive Interview with Pnpmar

Upcoming 100: Who are your biggest musical influences?
Pnpmar:
My biggest musical influences are Lil Wayne, Dababy, and Tory lanez.

Upcoming 100: When/How did you become interested in music?
Pnpmar:
I’ve always been interested in music since I was a kid but it started off with me writing poems and then evolved into me writing covers to songs I like. Eventually, I began writing and making my own music.

Upcoming 100: How does the song "Said It" differ from your other songs?
Pnpmar:
Said it differs from all my other songs because it’s a fun club vibe. It’s the song I had the most fun making so all the energy in it is really genuine. I can say that “Said It” is one of the few songs from the album where I opened up more on the hip-hop side about my swag and personal party life.

Upcoming 100: What skills/personal attributes are most important to being successful?
Pnpmar:
Some skills that are most important to being successful are self-education, awareness of the business you are pursuing, and self-confidence. You also have to have a strong mindset because there will be lots of hate while you are trying to build your business but just remember no one can make you quit but you. If you let others get in your head and you end up quitting on your dreams or business, then you're the only one to blame for that. I follow after artists such as Kanye West who was recognized as a producer for years before they even would respect and recognize the man as a hip-hop artist, let alone one of the greatest hip-hop artists.

Upcoming 100: How important do you think video or other visuals are to your music?
Pnpmar:
Visuals are probably the number one most important thing to my music and any music. Cause most songs will get played once and that determines if you get a fan that will come back to play it over and over. But if you have a song with visuals and the visuals are good or you do something catchy like a dance on a catchy part of the song then your song could end up being a “hit” just by the influence of the visual alone. In all reality, the song might be trash. There are lots of songs that blow up on TikTok that are a great example of this and I can tell you now that they are trash. They only have one good part: everyone dances too and good visuals to go with it such as the music video and the TikTok’s the creators make. All of a sudden that song is proclaimed to be a “Hit” but in all reality has no lyrical meaning and only talks about bullshit. It just catches on as a trend for a while, most likely between 3-6 months, and then it fades away as a new short trend arrives.

Upcoming 100: What do you hope to achieve with your art?
Pnpmar:
In the coming years I hope to achieve the status of one of the greatest hip hop MCs and one of the greatest artists with my art once I get a chance to collaborate with other genres and international artists.

Upcoming 100: What advice would you give to new artists entering the industry today?
Pnpmar:
Advice I would give to new artists entering the industry is that this is a business and a friendship but learn to separate the two. Also, recognize that what one person can’t do for you another one can for a fair price or even better price because “THIS IS A BUSINESS!”. Always have multiple contacts for anything you require to be done for your music/business. My final tip for new artists is to learn how to do the easy stuff yourself, you’ll save more money in the long run. Look at Russ, Tory Lanez, and Joyner Lucas, they are all good examples of this.

Upcoming 100: What sets your music apart? What is unique, or at least uncommon, about your sound and style?
Pnpmar:
What sets my music apart from the rest of the music in the world honestly is my voice alone. My voice doesn’t sound like anyone else’s cause I didn’t start out with a singing or rapping voice, I had to find my voice and once I did that I found my sound too. Thus, I make my own beats and can also hear if a beat is right for my voice beforehand if someone sends me one.

Upcoming 100: Has your music career/journey had a deliberate direction or did it simply evolve organically?
Pnpmar:
My music career started out with no direction at first, it was really just for fun but the more I did it the more it became second nature and then my goal became to be one of the MC’s of hip hop and one of the greatest artists in the world one day. If god plans it for me then you’ll hear about this kid “Pnpmar” aka “The Prince and a Problem.”

Upcoming 100: Where can potential fans find out more about you?
Pnpmar:
Potential fans can find out more about me by following me on Instagram @Pnpmar and clicking the link in my bio. That bio is my website and it has all the interviews I’ve done this year so far. So you can really get to know the Prince, w
