Fred Again.. and LATIN MAFIA are broadcasting the creation of their collaborative mixtape live and plan to remain in the studio until the project is complete.
The British producer has travelled to Mexico City to reunite with the Mexican sibling trio and complete a joint release they have developed at various points over the last two years.
Their YouTube stream is called ‘making a mixtape with latin mafia and staying here until we finish it’. The broadcast started today, July 28, at 1pm local time and 8pm BST.
“Me and the Latin Mafia brothers have been working on music for many moons now,” Fred said while announcing the project. “They are making some of my favourite music in the world right now. It’s so beautiful but surprising but contained but adventurous.”

Fred also discussed the family connections at the heart of their partnership. LATIN MAFIA is formed by brothers Emilio, Milton, and Mike de la Rosa, while Fred frequently creates music with his younger brother and has another sibling managing his career.
“They’re three brothers and I make music with my little brother as well, so it’s just five brothers every time we get together,” he continued. “And we’re both managed by our siblings too! So yeah, proper family affair.”
According to Fred, their recordings soon developed a shared identity and began sounding like parts of a unified collection.
“It was mad how quickly everything we made felt like it was naturally part of the same world,” he said. “Sometimes I find I have to really work hard to make things feel like a contained universe, but in this case everything that came out just naturally felt like one thing to us all.”
“So we wanna put it all out as one project. We’ve decided to get together in their home of Mexico City to finish it all.”
LATIN MAFIA described Fred’s “honest and sensitive” way of making music as a lasting source of inspiration, explaining that their connection felt effortless from the beginning.
“When we met, it simply made sense because of the way we share so many things when creating,” the musicians said in a statement translated from Spanish.
“It has been a couple of years since we first got together to work on music, and every time we have been in the same space, it feels like we have been friends forever.”
They continued: “We want to share with you what we have created together over this time. So we will get together in Mexico City to finish this project and broadcast the whole process non-stop until it is finished and out for you.”
The news arrives after the release of Under The Fabric (Mexico City, 11th December 2025), a new 35 minute movie capturing an improvised creative session held by the artists last December.
The session happened beneath an artwork created by Dutch visual artist Boris Acket before Fred’s ‘USB002’ performance in Mexico City. LATIN MAFIA later appeared with him during the concert. Fans received an early screening at Cine Tonalá in Mexico City last week before the film arrived online on Sunday, July 26. It can be viewed below.
LATIN MAFIA issued their first album, ‘Todos Los Días Todo El Día’, in 2024. Their sound brings together pop, R&B, reggaeton, trap, and electronic influences, with the trio previously naming Fred as an important inspiration.
Fred’s Mexico City appearance was included in the worldwide ‘USB002’ series, which featured collaborations with Thomas Bangalter, Underworld, Mike Skinner, Nia Archives, Romy, Ezra Collective, Young Thug, and Jamie T.
NME gave ‘USB002’ four stars and called it “a flow state of impulsive floor-fillers”, adding: “The common thread of ‘USB’ seems to be an eternal state of flux, where all limits and shackles are off.”
Earlier this year, Fred released an uninterrupted 108 hour mix chronicling the ‘USB002’ tour and also made the project’s production files available.
His next scheduled concerts will form his first tour across India, with performances planned for Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru in December. These dates are currently listed as his only live appearances of the year.
