Phoebe Bridgers has had to postpone her intimate UK performances this week after being diagnosed with appendicitis.
The musician performed two shows at London’s Union Chapel on Monday (17.08.26) to mark the release of her latest album Lost Weekend and her 32nd birthday, but has now postponed her upcoming dates in Kingston, Brighton and Bristol.
Sharing a photograph from her hospital bed on Instagram Stories on Wednesday (19.08.26), she wrote: “I got appendicitis for my birthday.
“Everything in the UK this week will have to move but I’ll make it up to you!!!!”
Appendicitis is caused by inflammation of the appendix, which can become filled with pus and lead to infection. In some cases, immediate surgery may be needed.
The Garden Song singer is scheduled to return to the UK later this year for larger shows at London’s O2 Arena, Birmingham’s Utilita Arena, Manchester’s Co-op Live and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro as part of the UK leg of Lost Tour. The tour will also travel across North America next month.
Taylor Swift recently praised Phoebe’s new record, describing Lost Weekend as “an absolute triumph in every way”.
The 36 year old pop star shared a birthday message on Instagram celebrating both the album and Phoebe, revealing that she has been unable to “stop listening” since the record came out last week.
She wrote on her Instagram Story: “It’s her birthday but she gave us a gift.
“This album is an absolute triumph in every way.”
Taylor also praised Phoebe’s honest approach to writing about grief, saying she respects the emotional openness and level of detail in her music.
She posted: “To write about grief with such vulnerability and detail, and to trust the listener with this much honesty. Happy bday @phoebebridgers I love you!! (sic)"
Lost Weekend is Phoebe’s first solo album since 2020’s Punisher, with the lengthy gap between the two records recently discussed by the singer during a fan Q+A.
Phoebe explained that the extended break was not always straightforward, as her creativity would arrive in unpredictable periods rather than consistently.
She revealed that she would arrange time to record, only to step away for months before returning, resulting in the album being created in occasional bursts over several years.
Phoebe told fans: “I really wanted to be making something.
“So I just started going in and then taking six months off and then going back. So this album took forever. Which is great!”
